Date : 12-May-2018

It is now possible to get rid of the painful lernia lump that is made up of substances from within the abdomen that can go out of place within a day. A day care surgery refers to a specific operating complex (in this case, hernia repair) for surgical treatment of patients who are admitted and discharged on the same day.

Hernia is a tissue or any body part that protrudes through the abdominal wall or any other part of the body, normally or abnormally. You could either be born with Hernia or it could have been an effect of any surgery or weakness developed in the belly muscles over time.

Hernia Causes

The main cause of Hernia is pressure on the structural weakness in the abdominal wall put by heavy weight lifting. Other causes that put pressure on the abdomen are obesity, pregnancy, difficulty in urination, chronic cough or constipation.

Types of Hernia

Groin or inguinal hernia are the most common hernia types. The other types are umbilical hernia, incisional hernia, ventral hernia, and femoral hernia. All these are based on the location of the hernia.

Symptoms of Hernia

The most common characteristics symptom of Hernia is a lump, swelling or bulge that may or may not come and go, but often occurs while doing an abdominal strenuous job or standing up. If this bulge resists manual pressure, it needs medical attention.

When a person experiences pain, heaviness or any discomfort while coughing, straining or lifting any heavy object, he needs to get tested for hernia. Other symptoms of hernia are having a pulling sensation around the lump, belching, a constant dull pain, bloating, and feeling of nausea and constipation.

Hernia Treatment

In most cases, surgery is used for treating the hernia that cannot be pushed back manually. The traditional surgery involves an incision in the area of the hernia from the outside. This incision allows accessibility to the level of the Hernia as it goes through the skin and fat.

The latest form of surgery for treating Hernia is the laparoscopic hernia repair. This procedure repairs the hernia from behind the abdominal wall. A surgeon can view the hernia and the surrounding tissue with the help of a laparoscopic camera, that is inserted through a small hollow tube.

For a better visual of the abdomen, it is inflated with harmless carbon di-oxide. This is followed by cutting through the lining of the abdomen (Peritoneum) to expose its weaknesses. Then a mesh patch is tied to secure the problematic zones below the peritoneum. Finally, this peritoneum is sealed with staples or sutures after deflating the surgical area and allowed to heal.
